Before leaving the uk, we had decided that we would ike to go to samewhere completely new on this trip to Bali. I had been to lombok ,the gilis , north and east Bali, Komodo, flores and west Java on previous visits, and this time we considered a lots of options, after the reading Indonesia Lonely Planet through, when arriving in Bali, we still had not realy made our minds up. As we wanted to fit in same time for Bali and Travangan and not be rushed , our time was quite limited. Wandering up poppies one morning we fell upon Bellongg Independent Tour for contact detail, see bottom of this report, opposite Bambo corner. We were at first drawn in by all of amazing photographs of various parts of Indonesia plastered all over the walls. At first we thought we would just ask for same qoutes for flight, but soon we were drawn into reading about all of the magical tours that the company offers Bellongg Independent Tour , the owner of the shop and guide for many year, come in to talk us through his tours, and soon we wer all booked on a 2 night, thre day volcano climbing anventure through east Java with Bellongg him self. The tour cost 60 euro per day 4 person and Bellongg also have capasity for 4 until 8 person but cost was different , cost 4 – 8 is 70 euro per day.we also book flight back from Surabaya or Bali. After colleting us at 8 am from la walon Bellongg picked up the other member of our tour Bellongg Independent Tour and we all headed up to Gilimanuk to catch the ferry over to Java, the drive took about about two and a half hours , and we drove stright onto the back of the ferry when we arrived. Climbing up the deck , we had a great view of Bali coast and Java in the not so far distance.

Kavah Ijen

We drove off the ferry after a very slow and peaceful half hour journy, and soon stopped for lunch at a food hall in a department store in Banyuwangi, afterwards , we drove out of the city and into the country side for arounds an hour and a half , towards our first distination; Kavah Ijen is massive volcano in east java, 2300 metres above sea level, it is a deceptively beatiful volcano, which looks rather like a big green mountain until you turn the corner at the top of the crater, and see that it is home to the largest bright turquoise acid lake i the world. We checked into Arabica homestay , a little guesthouse in sempol, a small villagge wery near Ijen. So all made our way down the slippery path to the base of Ijen, at the bottom we had a look at the living quarters of the sulphur collectors, in one small wooden shed , tiny sleeping compartments housed 35 men. Nearby , a canteen ' served food , and men all arounds had their baskets weigh [ they get paid by the kilo] and laid down their heavy loads. Bellong give the man with the ulcer same money, affter finish around Ijen Bellong continued to Bromo volcano and stay for one night than drove me to air port Surabaya back to Jakarta.
